The Patil family had decided at the last minute that they should head to Diagon Alley to buy their school supplies. After a mad rush to get ready and a couple different 'Oh, I forgot somethings they finally reached their destination. First stop, of course, was Gringotts Wizarding Bank. You couldn't shop if you didn't have money to shop with. After that, Padma and her twin, Pavarti, got fitted for new robes. Each had grown a tad over the summer and their school robes now hovered above their ankles and you simply couldn't have that. Then it was off to the Apothecary for spare Potion making ingredients. Soon after all the necessary shopping was done.
Padma had wondered away from the rest of the family. After much struggle and a reassuring "You-know-who wouldn't attack in Diagon Alley" her mother finally gave her the OK and she parted ways with the rest of the family. Her pockets jingling with knuts, sickles, and a few galleons she headed off toward the book store, Flourish and Blotts. She had her mind set on one book in particular New Theory of Numerology. It wasn't on her book list, but she still thought it would be an interesting read.
She slipped past groups of witches and wizards. Recognizing a few of them from Hogwarts, she waved and smiled happily but didn't stopped to talk to them. She was on a mission, well not really. She just decided to think of it that way. After all intelligence was one of the most important traits a person could have, and the only way to gain intellect was by studying.
Padma rounded a corner, completely lost in thought. The majority of it was her fault, but the only thing that snapped her back to reality was the feeling of her behind smacking against cobblestone. She quickly rose to her feet and dusted herself off. Before she realized whom she had literally run into she apologized "I'm terribly sorry. I should have been watching my step."
